The Story

The Giving Gathering began brewing over coffee and kindness in 2008. Someone overheard a neighbor talking about how Christmas would be different that year. Gifts simply weren't in the budget.

That moment sparked a simple idea: What if the community stepped in?

With the support of Colin at Colin’s Coffee in Upper Arlington, Ohio, the shop opened on Christmas Day. Tips collected that day helped a neighbor in need. Friends showed up. Neighbors gave. Generosity multiplied. What began as one act of kindness quickly became something bigger.

Today, The Giving Gathering exists because of the people who give — friends, local businesses, volunteers, and donors who believe that no one should feel alone during difficult seasons. We simply help connect generosity to need.

The credit belongs to the community.

Who We Serve

The Giving Gathering helps individuals and families facing difficult times. We believe everyone deserves kindness, dignity, and a community that cares.

We focus on neighbors who might otherwise be overlooked, including families struggling financially and people facing housing insecurity. Through generosity and community connections, we help provide support when it's needed most.
